The new tyre is positioned between the existing cross-country tread pattern and the renovated Nobby Nic, which is more downhill-heavy but also heavier than before. With the new Wicked Will, Schwalbe is therefore targeting trail bikers and touring riders who are looking for a reliable all-rounder that rolls well and doesn't put too much strain on the scales. In the Super Race version with transparent skin sidewall that we rode, the 2.4 inch wide 29er weighs between 800 and 820 grams. Available exclusively with Speedgrip rubber compound, the tyre rolls very easily and is also quiet thanks to the arrangement of the tread blocks. While the stable lugs in the centre are slightly lower, the higher side lugs offer sufficient grip in corners and in wet conditions. The tyre's uphill traction and self-cleaning properties were also impressive.
