With the Mythos XC, a legend is returning to the racetracks. The tyres from IRC Tire in Japan will be available again in Germany from 2018.

The legend from Japan is back. In the mid-nineties, the race tyre from tyre manufacturer IRC Tires on the bikes of Yeti and Cannondale team riders. Classic fans will still be familiar with the myth today. Due to rising oil prices, the manufacturer withdrew from the market at the time.

The comeback of IRC Tires was already announced at last year's Eurobike. Now the time has come. At the festival site in Willingen, we were able to see the first set of the brand new Mythos XC to accept. The tubeless version of the Mythos is initially only available in the 29 x 2.1 inch size. At 655 grams, it is not one of the super lightweight models, but offers very good puncture protection.

The compound consists of just one compound and should roll particularly easily thanks to the flat centre lugs. The slightly offset outer lugs should provide the necessary grip.

In addition to the Mythos, we were also able to spot a prototype at the IRC stand. The tyre does not yet have a type designation and the manufacturer did not want to announce any detailed information before Eurobike. However, there will be a complete range of 27.5 and 29er tyres for use in rough terrain and for enduro bikes. In addition to the two diameters, the tyres will be available in widths from 2.3 to 3.0 inches. Unfortunately, we will have to wait until the trade fair in Friedrichshafen for more information.
