With the support of Pirelli, Cast presents two new mountain bike tyres for the gravity sector. The Antagonist and Protagonist models combine motorsport-proven rubber compounds with modern carcass structures.

The new component label Cast is back - and not quietly. Together with tyre giant Pirelli, the young brand is launching two new gravity tyres on the market: Antagonist and Protagonist. Sounds like drama, but it's high-tech. Thanks to the partnership, Cast is tapping into Pirelli's tyre expertise: motorsport-proven rubber compounds, state-of-the-art laboratories, high-end development in Milan.

Cast antagonist for the rear wheel

The Antagonist is the uncompromising type for the rear wheel: extensive grip, aggressive braking traction. Bends? Stable. Stability in lean angles? Reliable. Dry to mixed - this is where it wants to shine.

  • Sizes: 29×2.4″ & 27.5×2.4″
  • Carcass: DualWall Enduro/DH (two-ply, 120 tpi, tubeless-ready)
  • Weights: 29×2.4″ - 1,300 g; 27.5×2.4″ - 1,250 g
  • Ideal conditions: Dry and mixed substrate

Cast protagonist for the front wheel

The protagonist plays to its strengths at the front: V-shaped profile for smooth directional changes, precise feedback at the limit, generous lug spacing for grip and fast self-cleaning.

Ultimately, the quality of the rubber is crucial. Pirelli has given Cast access to the latest technology and to the testing facilities in Milan. The knowledge from motorsport brings us real added value - Thomas Callaghan, Cast Design Lead

None other than Danny MacAskill is backing the duo: protagonist at the front, antagonist at the back. "With this project and the dedicated tyre collection, we have supported Cast's ambitions to strengthen the MTB community from within. The partnership was a very natural step," says Samuele Bressan, Pirelli Global Marketing Manager.

The two tyres will be available worldwide from August 2025 - via the Cast online shops (castmtb.com / castmtb.eu), selected dealers and distributors. Prices are not yet known.
