Michelin, the second largest tyre manufacturer in the world, is presenting two all-mountain tyres developed in the EWS with different areas of application.

In 2018 and 2019, Sam Hill impressively demonstrated that Michelin is not only capable of car tyres. He won on the MTB tyres The French manufacturer won the overall classification of the Enduro World Series in both years. Several other teams also rely on Michelin tyres. The French company is now presenting two new tyres for all-mountain use.

Strong and fast on solid ground

The Force AM2 was developed for dry and hard surfaces. The directional tread pattern has been trimmed to minimise rolling resistance by shaping the centre lugs elongated. It should still offer sufficient grip when braking and cornering. This is ensured by the numerous block edges. The softer shoulder blocks are inspired by the DH22 downhill tyre and should provide the necessary lateral support.

Aggressive tread design for impressive grip

The Wild AM2 should shine on soft and variable surfaces. Due to the aggressive tread pattern, it does not roll as well as the Force AM2, but should inspire the rider with plenty of grip in every situation. The centre lugs are inspired by the DH34 downhill tyre and are designed to transfer braking power to the ground. The softer side lugs are also inspired by the DH22 and are designed to offer high riding stability as well as plenty of grip.

Both tyres are available in 29 and 27.5 inch sizes and are offered in widths of 2.4 and 2.6 inches respectively. This should make the AM2 models attractive for use on all-mountain, enduro and trail bikes. The street price for the tyre is around 60 euros. The rubber compounds and carcasses of both tyres are the same and have been tested by professional enduro teams. Based on this experience, Michelin claims to have found the optimum compromise between grip, rolling resistance, durability, weight and puncture protection.

To achieve this, the rubber compound is slightly harder in the centre. This should ensure better rolling behaviour and less wear. The sides are softer to generate a lot of grip when cornering. Michelin calls this compound GUM-X. Gravity Shield Technology in conjunction with the 3X60TPI carcass insert is designed to protect against punctures and punctures.

Dimensions and weights:
