Can you really seal tubeless Conti tyres with latex milk? Continental product manager Christian Wurmbäck provides information.

Question from BIKE reader J. Müller: I would like to ride my Conti tyres with latex milk, but I can't get them to seal. The milk pushes through the carcass on the sidewalls. What can I do?

Answer from Christian Wurmbäck, Continental Product Manager Bicycle Tyres: Our ProTection tyres are very easy to ride tubeless ready. In fact, all you have to do is fit the tyre, fill it with milk and off you go. We communicate this tyre as Tubeless Ready without restrictions. The RaceSport version is somewhat more difficult to seal, as the entire tyre is lighter and therefore the carcass is thinner. The sealing process for these tyres is more complex and a high-quality milk must be used. As this process is not as simple as with ProTection tyres, we deliberately do not declare them suitable for tubeless use. Experienced users can also seal RaceSport tyres with our "Conti RevoSealant" without any problems, but we also know that there is a great deal of uncertainty here.
