Flat tyres: How to seal the tyre again on the road

A flat tyre - many causes, one effect: Suddenly the air is out. Here we show you how to remove tight tyres and continue riding without a spare tube.

In principle, any tyre can be pulled off the rim without a tyre lever. Start by pressing the tyre into the centre of the rim from both sides. This will give you enough room to lift the tyre over the rim flange.

If you only had one puncture, it is sufficient to open one side of the tyre. The inner tube can then be easily pulled out. If you have driven in a nail, thorn or similar, remove the tyre completely and check the tread for residue.

Have you got a flat tyre and don't have a spare inner tube or repair kit with you? No problem: Cut the inner tube at the exact spot of the puncture and then knot it back together. The inner tube is usually long enough to be reinserted into the rim and inflated.

You can seal a tear in the tyre with many objects, for example with the paper from a bar. If you like to take precautions, wrap a small piece of coke can with tape. This weighs practically nothing and fits in the smallest of pockets. Simply slide it between the inner tube and the tyre wall.
