The French have not only given their all-mountain tyre a facelift, they have completely revised it. Profile, rubber compounds and sizes - all new.

With the new Dual Compound, two rubber compounds are used on the tread of the fine 127 TPI carcass: a hard one in the centre and a softer one on the outer lugs. The new tread pattern is much more forgiving than its predecessor and does not wander so uncontrollably in bends. Even in wet and muddy conditions, the new tread pattern with the broadly supported outer lugs offers more grip. In the Advanced version we tested, the tyre can also be ridden with milk. At 596 grams in a 2.25 width, the Wild Grip'R2 easily keeps up with the competition. Only the puncture protection could be a little better for use in the high mountains.

CONCLUSIONSignificant improvements make the Wild Grip'R2 a competitive, affordable all-rounder in the specialised, expensive tyre jungle.
