Continental is consistently refining its Gravity range. Rather than introducing new tread patterns, the tyre manufacturer is expanding its existing models with additional casing and rubber compounds. It is precisely this move that is likely to please many mountain bikers: A wider choice means a more personalised setup for different riding conditions – from challenging trails to tough enduro or downhill routes. The new Enduro SuperSoft and Trail Soft versions, in particular, fill gaps in the range and make it easier to fine-tune the front and rear wheels.

More choice for customised gravity set-ups
With the expansion of the Gravity range, Continental is pursuing a clear strategy: to enable riders to tailor their tyres even more precisely to their intended use, the terrain and their personal riding style. Rather than introducing completely new models, the manufacturer is adding further variants to the tried-and-tested Argotal, Kryptotal Front, Kryptotal Rear and Xynotal ranges.
The focus is on new combinations of casing and rubber compound. This expands the range of options for trail riders, enduro racers and downhill riders alike.
Trail Soft or Enduro SuperSoft?
The new Trail Soft models combine a lighter Trail casing with the Soft rubber compound. This setup is aimed at riders looking for a balanced combination of grip, rolling performance and durability. This makes the tyres particularly suitable for technically demanding trail rides and sporty everyday use.
Those who prioritise maximum traction, on the other hand, should opt for the new combination of an Enduro casing and a SuperSoft compound. According to Continental, this is the tyre with the best grip in the Gravity range. The sturdier casing is designed to handle high cornering forces and hard impacts with ease, whilst the soft compound provides maximum grip on roots, rocks and loose terrain.
Tried-and-tested profiles are being given new options
No fewer than four established Gravity models are set to benefit from the expansion of the product range.
The Argotal is still intended for loose and soft substrates, whilst Kryptotal Front remains specifically designed to ensure precise steering response at the front wheel. Kryptotal Rear focuses on traction and braking performance at the rear wheel. The Xynotal It really comes into its own, however, on hard, dry ground.
These new combinations significantly increase the number of possible set-ups. Riders can now match their front and rear tyres even more precisely and tailor them to the track profile and weather conditions.

The new Gravity tyres are now available from selected Continental dealers. For models with Enduro casing and SuperSoft rubber compound Continental has set a recommended retail price of 86.95 euros on. The variants with Trail-type carcass and soft rubber compound cost 73.95 euros (RRP). The manufacturer is thus positioning the new models in the premium segment for ambitious trail, enduro and gravity riders.
The new versions are available for 27.5-inch and 29-inch wheels. All new models are now available worldwide from selected Continental dealers.
Editorial commentary
Continental has deliberately chosen not to introduce further tread pattern variants, opting instead to invest in a wider choice of casings and rubber compounds. In practice, this is precisely where the greatest difference in performance lies. Riders who are already using the tried-and-tested Argotal, Kryptotal or Xynotal tread patterns will now have significantly more options for tailoring their bike to its weight, riding style and terrain. The expansion of the range may therefore seem less spectacular than a completely new tyre, but for ambitious gravity riders it is likely to offer greater practical benefits than an entirely new product line.
