Continental is expanding its Gravity range with new rubber compound and casing options. The highlight is the introduction of the Supersoft compound for the Enduro casing, which promises maximum grip at a lower weight. The tyres are now also available for children's bikes.

The tyre manufacturer Continental presents an extensive expansion of its popular Gravity Range. In response to numerous requests from the community in forums, social media and at events, the company has added new compound and casing options to its range. We in the BIKE editorial team have also had the new combinations on our wish list for some time. This expansion of the range allows downhill fans to perfect their setup down to the smallest detail by choosing the best combination of casing and rubber compound for their riding style.

Complete bike manufacturers have been able to fall back on this combination for some time, and now the mixture of supersoft rubber and enduro carcass is also available for end customers in shops. The centrepiece of the expansion is the introduction of the softest rubber compound Supersoft for the Enduro casing, which is designed to offer maximum grip in technically demanding terrain. Previously there was Supersoft only in combination with the downhill casing. The Enduro casing saves almost 200 grams compared to the DH version. The new Enduro/Supersoft combination is available for the Kryptotal Fr and Argotal profiles.

There is also a decisive new combination one step further down. This is because the lightest "Trail" casing was only available with the hard "Endurance" rubber at market launch. In our big tyre test this rubber compound had below-average grip, which clearly limited the tyre's capabilities. The Kryptotal was therefore not the first choice for weight-conscious trail bikers. But now the Kryptotal Fr with the light trail casing is also available with the good, medium-soft, soft rubber. A real update for trail use.

Interesting for bike park shredders and all those who value maximum durability: The Kryptotal Front is now also available with Downhill Casing and the slightly harder Soft Compound in size 60-622, which should be of particular interest to downhill enthusiasts. This provides maximum cushioning and puncture protection, even without the very soft rubber, which naturally wears out more quickly.

New Continental MTB tyres: response to customer wishes and market requirements

Alexander Hänke, MTB Product Manager at Continental, emphasises the importance of customer feedback for product development: "After the launch of the Gravity Range, it was impressive to see how the community immediately started combining different variants of the portfolio to suit their style. Over time, we received several messages on social media and at events requesting further variants - especially softer compounds in lighter carcasses." These extensions are intended to offer mountain bikers even more flexibility to perfect their setup and customise it to their individual needs.

New sizes: 20, 24 and 26 inches

Continental has not only expanded the compound options, but also extended the size range. The specialists for mixed terrain, Kryptotal Front and Kryptotal Rear, are now also available in 20'', 24'' and 26'' for mountain bikes with smaller wheels. This makes them an exciting option for children who like to go off-road. After all, there aren't too many grippy tyres in this segment in 20" and 24". Conti offers the 2.4 inch width here - this gives kids plenty of volume and therefore comfort and grip. The variety of options underlines Continental's efforts to offer the right tyre solution for every riding level and every area of use.
