We have the Continental Dubnital 50 mm with race casing has been fitted to the bike for a week. The tyre rolls noticeably well and feels fast and comfortable. Another plus point in practice: fitting is relatively easy, even with a tubeless setup, which is not a given with all tyres. On the Roval Terra Aero CLX wheels with an inner rim width of 27 millimetres, we measured a tyre width of 48.5 millimetres immediately after fitting. The scales read 575 grams per tyre; slightly lighter than the manufacturer's specification of Schwalbe G One R (610 g) and slightly heavier than the Maxxis Ravanger EXO TR Tanwall (665 grams).
Continental is adding a new dimension to its Dubnital range. While the 55 mm version is already established among gravel riders, the new 50 mm version is aimed at increasingly technically demanding gravel races.
Originally developed for fast cross-country races, the tyre now transfers its "Master of Speed" DNA to modern gravel racing. The narrower profile promises improved rolling characteristics with reliable grip on stony terrain, hard surfaces and mixed off-road tracks.
The lug profile of the Dubnital 50 mm is optimised for dry to slightly damp conditions. A fast-rolling centre bar ensures efficiency on straight stretches, while pronounced shoulder lugs promise reliable braking traction and stable cornering - even on rough surfaces.
Rosa Klöser, winner of the Life Time Unbound Gravel 200 2024 and Continental brand ambassador, is definitely Team Wide Tyres. For gravel races she recommends at least 45 millimetres. The professional cyclist, who performed an impressive solo from kilometre 10 to 80 at Paris-Roubaix, is delighted with the new 50-millimetre Dubnital: "For me, the Dubnital 50 mm is one of the most anticipated gravel tyres at the moment. The tyre gives you an incredible amount of confidence, especially in corners, where you can push your speed to the limit thanks to the enormous grip and strong braking control."
She particularly emphasises its versatility: the tyre is not only suitable for technical routes, but is a "fast, reliable all-rounder for anyone looking for additional comfort, grip and durability without sacrificing speed."
Alexander Hänke, MTB & Gravel Product Manager at Continental, sees the Dubnital as a border crosser between the segments: "With the introduction of the Dubnital 50 mm, we are finally removing the boundaries between mountain bike and gravel."
The 50 mm dimension hits the sweet spot for technically demanding off-road gravel races such as Traka, The Rift or Badlands. The tyre delivers "proven off-road performance combined with low rolling resistance, high puncture protection and low weight."
The Dubnital 50 mm is available in two versions:
Both versions are tubeless-ready and hookless-compatible, making them ideal for modern wheel systems.
The Continental Dubnital 50 mm is now available worldwide through selected retail partners and the official Continental sales channels. Cost: 74.95 euros >> available here.
