Syncros: Scott buys Ritchey component brand
The component manufacturer Syncros has a new owner. After eight years with the previous owner Ritchey Design, the brand is now going to Scott Sports SA. They are already working on new products that will be presented at Eurobike 2012.

After the high-end forge founded by Peter Hamilton and Pippin Osborne in Vancouver/Canada in 1986 went quiet for a while, Ritchey took over the brand in 2003 and breathed new life into it. Syncros products are known as timeless, beautiful, durable and lightweight components in the all-mountain, freeride and downhill sectors.

Now the Syncros brand and its distribution have been taken over by Scott Sports. They are working hard on further development and new products will be on show at Eurobike 2012. Following the presentation of the new "Freak 'n Light" product series in 2011 (BIKE reported), the cross-country market in particular is to be further expanded. Interesting for road cyclists: Road bike components will also be available in the future.

Sebastian Brust was born in 1979 and was originally socialised on his grandmother's folding bike, but has mainly been riding studded tyres since his fifth birthday. Loves all kinds of bikes - and merging with nature. Believes that disc brakes are much safer today than they were 15 years ago and thinks he has helped with his brake and pad tests. However, the trained vehicle technology engineer very much regrets that the bicycle industry is orientating itself on what he considers to be the wrong ideals of the car industry. At BIKE, he corrects, produces and organises digital content on the website.
