Inconspicuously clever: the integrated carrying handle under the rear makes it easier to handle heavy E-MTBs...

WTB brings the classic Rocket saddle into the e-mountainbike age: thick padding, robust construction and a practical hike-a-bike feature make it ideal for trails, technical tours or everyday use. After six months of intensive use, we draw a conclusion.

Anyone who has ever heaved their e-mountainbike up the cellar stairs or into the van knows the dilemma: 25 kilos of high-tech - but no real grip. So you reach for the seat tube, the handlebar ends or under the saddle. None of these places really feel good in the hand. The most practical solution: one hand on the handlebars, the other on the saddle. But that's where grip is often lacking.

WTB has recognised the problem - and provides a smart solution with the Rocket E-MTB.
The saddle, specially designed for e-bikes, has an inconspicuous, integrated carrying handle on the underside. No bulky strap, no awkward plastic handle - just a firmly integrated and concealed handle that is worth its weight in gold in everyday use.

Fusion Form Shell & Comfort Zone

The WTB Rocket combines a well thought-out design with practical details especially for E-MTB use. The newly developed Fusion moulded shell is flexible enough to offer noticeable comfort off-road, but remains stiff enough for efficient power transmission. A large recess in the centre - the so-called comfort zone - relieves the pelvic floor, especially on long tours.

A slightly raised "backstop" at the rear provides additional support when travelling uphill. Practical and unobtrusive: A carrying handle is integrated under the saddle, which makes it much easier to push or carry heavy e-bikes - for example up steps or into the car.

Robust gel and foam padding, reinforced corners and a hard-wearing cover round off the overall package. The Rocket is therefore not only comfortable, but also durable.

The WTB Rocket bike saddle in the test

The WTB Rocket is no filigree lightweight - and doesn't want to be. As soon as you get on, the saddle feels like a lounge seat for off-road riding: wide rear area, generous padding, grippy cover.

What seems like comfort overkill on sporty E-MTBs when sitting around on forest roads comes into its own on technical terrain: The raised rear end provides real counter-pressure when climbing, keeping you stable in the saddle without constantly sliding backwards. Especially on e-bikes with a lot of oomph, this almost acts like a restraining belt.

Even during long days in the saddle with many metres of altitude, the buttocks remain amazingly fresh. No numbness, no pressure points. The comfort zone works as promised. And the carrying handle? It really made our lives easier when pushing off-road and loading the test e-bike.

After six months of continuous use - including the harsh winter months and the rainy spring with plenty of mud and sludge - the saddle shows no signs of wear. The workmanship and materials make a really robust impression. In terms of durability, we have high praise for it!

Sure, if you're looking for lightweight construction or like to sit hard, you'll be happier elsewhere. But if you love long tours, especially on an E-MTB, and want comfort, the Rocket is a travelling couch with a built-in, hidden carrying handle.
