SQlab 611 active: new edition of the special edition Wings for Life
With its Wings for Life saddle, SQlab supports the foundation of the same name, which was founded by motocross legend Heinz Kinigadner. The foundation is committed to making paraplegia curable.

The 611 active Wings for Life is technically equivalent to the back-friendly 611 active road and mountain bike saddle. In this model, the central connection of the struts to the seat surface enables a lateral tilting movement of the saddle, which at around seven degrees is similar to that of walking. This makes the pedalling movement rounder and more efficient from a biomechanical point of view. The resulting slight pelvic movement relieves and mobilises the intervertebral discs and also takes pressure off the sit bones. At Eurobike 2010, SQlab was honoured with the Eurobike Gold Award for the 611 active model.

The 611 active Wings for Life is available in 13 cm, 14 cm and 15 cm and costs 154.95 euros. Of this, 10 euros per saddle sold goes directly to the foundation, which finances and supports research projects worldwide to heal injured spinal cords. The saddle is available now.

What makes the special 611 active Wings for Life model so special is the red and white logo of the Wings for Life Foundation and the slogan "Spinal cord injury must become curable" printed on the saddle. This slogan is also the designated goal of the non-profit research foundation.Photo: Hersteller What makes the special 611 active Wings for Life model so special is the red and white logo of the Wings for Life Foundation and the slogan "Spinal cord injury must become curable" printed on the saddle. Heinz Kinigadner and the Wings for Life Foundation

Kinigadner writes on the foundation's website: "The tragic consequences of my son Hannes' accident during a charity race in the summer of 2003 made me painfully aware of the continuing lack of medical options for treating spinal cord injuries. In co-operation with my friend Dietrich Mateschitz, I responded by founding Wings for Life. The foundation's main task is to support and promote innovative and high-quality cutting-edge research with the aim of promoting the regeneration of the injured spinal cord."

"Our cooperation with the Wings for Life Foundation is very close to my heart," says Tobias Hild, founder and CEO of SQlab. "Almost ten years ago, I had a serious moto cross crash myself, which fortunately did not land me in a wheelchair after several operations. That's why we want to use this campaign to help those, including many friends, who weren't as lucky as me."

Sebastian Brust was born in 1979 and was originally socialised on his grandmother's folding bike, but has mainly been riding studded tyres since his fifth birthday. Loves all kinds of bikes - and merging with nature. Believes that disc brakes are much safer today than they were 15 years ago and thinks he has helped with his brake and pad tests. However, the trained vehicle technology engineer very much regrets that the bicycle industry is orientating itself on what he considers to be the wrong ideals of the car industry. At BIKE, he corrects, produces and organises digital content on the website.
