As with my road bike, I also wanted to upgrade my bike with the stylish 3T components from Italy. What I liked about the Ionic seatpost was that it looks sleek and has no offset to the rear.

The rude awakening only came during assembly: to adjust the saddle exactly horizontally, you have to turn two toothed sleeves in the frame head against each other. The chance of finding the horizontal position is just as slim as hitting a hole-in-one in golf. Despite the fine toothing, it is impossible to adjust the saddle precisely. And that's the key to a perfect riding position. What's more, the aluminium head started to move sideways after just a few hundred kilometres.

ConclusionA conventional support with a screw-in clamp works much more simply and precisely than the 3T Ionic.
