E-MTB saddle Ergon SM E-Mountain in practical test
With the SM E-Mountain, Ergon is launching its first E-MTB saddle in two sizes. There is a women's and a men's version with differently shaped seat surfaces.

The slightly upward sloping rear lip and the wider and more comfortable saddle tip provide good support and a comfortable riding position, especially on steep uphill slopes. There is a spacious, well thought-out saddle bag to match the saddle. The screw for attaching the bracket is already integrated in the saddle, and the bag can be clicked in and removed again in one easy step. The full-width zip on the side is very practical. We have already been able to try out the saddle, albeit in the smallest size, which was a little too narrow for us. It offers good rear support and feels comfortable even after a two-hour tour. We found the optional saddle bag with a large zip to be particularly practical for long tours. Available from January 2019, sizes S/M and M/L.

Florentin Vesenbeckh has been on a mountain bike since he was ten years old. Even on his very first tour, he focussed on single trails - and even after more than 30 years in the saddle of an MTB, these are still the quintessence of biking for him. He spent his youth competing in various bike disciplines and later his cycling career was characterised by years as a riding technique coach. Professionally, the experienced test editor now focusses on e-mountainbikes. In recent years, the qualified sports scientist and trained journalist has tested over 300 bikes and more than 40 different motor systems in the laboratory and in practice.
