Less than a year after presenting its first Vario seatpost, DT Swiss is now also launching the D 232 in aluminium. The key data remains the same: 60 millimetre stroke and tool-free disassembly.

60 millimetres drop, just 369 grams and in 27.2 millimetres: With its D 232 One lowerable seat post presented at the beginning of the year orientated itself DT Swiss to racers who want to equip their hardtails and marathon fullys with a dropper post. Until now, the dropper post has been fitted exclusively to Canyon bikes as standard, and this will not change with the introduction of the aluminium version for 2020. However, both the carbon version (D 232 One) and the new aluminium model (D 232) are available on the aftermarket.

In contrast to the carbon One version (499 euros), the lower part and the saddle clamp of the cheaper version are made of aluminium. Instead of titanium bolts, steel bolts fix the saddle to the head. This increases the total weight of the upside-down Vario post to 416 grams. The mechanical system with coil spring instead of air spring inside remains the same. This eliminates the need for re-inflation and the post can be dismantled without tools.
