The testers from FREERIDE magazine recently fitted the Stamp plastic pedal from Crankbrothers. First the bad news - and all it took was one bike ride:

Due to the raised bar in the centre of the pedal, the pins cannot bite properly into the sole. The result: poor grip. Only when we put on flat pedal shoes with more grip and a less stiff sole did our feet hold better on the platform pedals. This was because the sole bent downwards enough to provide more contact surface for the pins. All testers found the large contact surface very comfortable. They also liked the robust plastic. Weight: 323 grams.

Price 50 Euro e.g. for Rosebikes and Maciag Offroad available

Plus Lightweight, favourable

Minus Grip

Conclusion Solid, inexpensive pedal with an unfortunately somewhat poor grip

Born in South Baden, Laurin Lehner is, by his own admission, a lousy racer. Maybe that's why he is fascinated by creative, playful biking. What counts for him is not how fast you get from A to B, but what happens in between. Lehner writes reports, interviews scene celebrities and tests products and bikes - preferably those with a lot of suspension travel.
