The new Look Powermeter pedals, developed and produced in France, are characterised by their low weight and easy installation. The Look X-Track Power pedals, made from recycled aluminium, weigh 404 grams per pair. Their SPD-compatible tread measures 540 millimetres.

The weight of the Powermeter pedals for road bikes is 260 grams per pair. Power is transferred from the legs to the crank via a contact surface of 705 square millimetres. The Keo Blade Power pedals utilise the eponymous blade technology with an aerodynamic design and a very flat pedal profile - this saves watts instead of pedalling them.

Look promises accurate measurement

The manufacturer promises that the Look watt measuring pedals work with the latest electronic technology and proven algorithms. This enables precise power measurement that provides reliable data with an accuracy of +/- 1 per cent.

There are both one-sided and two-sided wattage measurement options for both pedal models, Keo Blade Power and X-Track Power. The "Dual" version measures total power, cadence and balance between the left and right pedals to provide the rider with the most accurate data. In the "Single" version, only the left pedal is measured and data such as balance is calculated using an algorithm.

Powermeter pedals: easy to install and connect

The pedals can be easily attached to the crank with a 15 mm spanner - the Allen key cannot be used because the ports for charging are located there. Thanks to an auto-calibration system developed and patented by Look's research and development department, installation is quick and uncomplicated. As both the Q-factor and the stack height of the pedals match those of the standard Look pedals, no adjustments to the bike or the seating position are necessary.

The power meter pedals feature Bluetooth and ANT+ for seamless data transfer and connectivity. In the Look app, users can access a variety of data including normalised power, intensity factor, power zones, training load, functional threshold power, smooth pedalling, torque effectiveness and much more. The app also provides instructions for fitting the pedals, allows registration for warranty claims, firmware updates and access to product support. The Look app can also be used to calibrate the pedals, adjust settings and monitor the battery status.

Battery life

Look states that the batteries can last up to 60 hours. Only those who do ultracycling need to consider whether they need to charge the pedals' batteries before the end of the race. For day trips or even weekend trips, the battery capacity is more than sufficient. It takes a maximum of two hours to fully charge the batteries. With a USB-C cable, both pedals can be charged at the same time, for which magnetic connections are provided.

Look pedals: By athletes for athletes

The new Look pedals were developed in close cooperation with athletes and extensively tested. The X-Track Power pedals have passed the demanding IPX7 test and can even survive a 30-minute dive to a depth of one metre. The Keo Blade Power pedals have a new lever shape that ensures improved durability and a balanced centre of gravity, which should make it easier to click in.

A special feature of these powermeter pedals is the integration of the electronic components and batteries in the pedal axle. This prevents the ingress of water, mud and dust. Another advantage is that the pedal body can be replaced independently of the pedal axle in the event of damage.

Power meter systems are often costly and represent a significant investment for riders, especially when crashes are part of the sport. To accommodate athletes, Look offers an extended warranty and a staggered three-year replacement programme for registered products.

With the brand new X-Track Power and Keo Blade Power, our design team wanted to set the benchmark for precise power measurement: the lightest pedals with a standard Q-factor and stack height, easy to install and easy to use. - Alex Lavaud, Global Product Manager at Look Cycle
