The new pedals from HT promise less weight than the Shimano XTR clipless pedals. We tried out the HT M1 XC.

In fact, even the cheaper version we tested with a steel axle is slightly lighter than the competition from Shimano. However, the slightly heavier cleats (not SPD-compatible) compensate for this advantage. The M1 cleats have a firm footing, the lateral play is slightly more generous but also tighter than the competition from Shimano. The release mechanism is comfortable after a short period of familiarisation, but doesn't quite match the crisp SPD function. Easy entry!
