Light, flat, affordable: Crankbrothers' plastic pedals make a strong case. We wanted to find out how they perform in practice.

In practice, the Stamp 1 with Igus bearings on the inside and Enduro bearing on the outside also prove to be very robust. The footprint of the L version (also available in S) is huge and the ten pins on each side can be easily replaced on the back. However, the grip is only moderate. Because the axle is just as high as the surrounding pins, the shoe has little grip on the pedal. In addition, the centre bar presses noticeably uncomfortably into the soles of the feet.

For technical descents, he is prepared to tackle almost any ascent - under his own steam. As an accessories specialist, he is the first port of call for questions about equipment and add-on parts, while as head of copywriting he sweeps the language crumbs from the pages of the BIKE print editions.
