The style of Formula 1 with the reliability of a diesel: Shimano's "WH-M 565" system wheels conceal robust LX technology in their smart casing. Practical benefits were more important during development than exaggerated gram counting: in contrast to their visual role model "XTR", the wheels can be ridden with both discs and V-brakes - the rim flanks are prepared as a friction surface. Even after 500 kilometres of off-road use, the "WH-M 565" showed no signs of wear. No bearing had any play, no spoke was broken. Even re-centring was not necessary. The moderate acceleration due to the relatively high weight is also bearable.
