The founders of CoPro started out in the aerospace industry. There they developed a new type of manufacturing technology for fibre composites such as carbon. However, this process can be used to produce not only ultra-light and stable aeroplane parts, but also mountain bike rims. CoPro currently offers three models - all "made in Germany".
Otto Lilienthal, the greatest German aviation pioneer, is the namesake for the lightweight carbon rims from Braunschweig. CoPro offers the Lilienthal in three versions. At 480 grams, the Lilienthal AM is aimed at all-mountain and enduro bikers looking for a lightweight yet robust rim. Cross-country riders are better off opting for the lighter Lilienthal XC, which weighs just 410 grams. E-bikers should be happy with the Lilienthal XE, with a permissible system weight of 150 kilograms and a weight of 495 grams. The rims are available for 449 euros.
Until now, the lightweight rims were only available in 29 inches. But from spring 2021, all variants will also be available in 27.5 inches. CoPro aims to achieve the low weight with maximum stability through its patented, automated manufacturing process, which is not visible at first glance on the simple, 22 millimetre high rims. Hidden inside the rim is a core made of special foam, which is designed to reduce vibrations and shocks. The elegant carbon rims are manufactured entirely in Braunschweig, which ensures short distances to the customer.
The young brand is so convinced of the durability and robustness of its rims that customers receive a lifetime guarantee. In addition, CoPro even offers a free crash replacement on the rims. Complete wheelsets are available with DT Swiss 350 Classic hubs for 1299 euros, with HopePro 4 Boost hubs also for 1299 euros and with Tune KillHill/ClimbHill hubs for 1449 euros. CoPro can also build customised wheels on request. The decal colours of the tubeless-ready rims can be customised in the configurator.
