Powermeter Powertap G3 Disc in test
Compared to road cycling, power measurement on mountain bikes is still in its infancy. Nevertheless, there are a wide variety of systems on the market, with Powertap hubs being among the pioneers.

The new G3 hub from Powertap can be quickly converted for use with a 142x12 mm thru axle using two adapters. Connecting the sensors to Garmin computers via Bluetooth works quickly and reliably. However, you still have to choose between ANT+ and Bluetooth, as there is not yet a wireless transmitter with both standards. The G3 only works with the special 160 mm brake disc from Powertap. The hub delivered plausible performance data throughout the entire test period. Powertap specifies the measuring accuracy as +/-1.5 %, which puts it at the same level as other systems on the market.

PLUS Only hub with power measurement, quick wheel change
MINUS No separate measurement for right & left leg

Weight 522 g (incl. disc)
Price 989 Euro
