Now after all: Specialized Stumpjumper FSR comes in 27.5 inches
For a long time, Specialized resisted the introduction of the 27.5 inch (650B) wheel size. Now it's out: 27.5 inches is coming - as early as April 2014.

It has just been announced that Specialized will be launching a mid-season model of the classic Stumpjumper that rolls on 27.5-inch wheels. The Stumpjumper FSR Expert and Evo models (pictured above is the Stumpjumper FSR Expert Carbon Evo) are expected to be available with the medium wheel size from mid-April 2014.

Until now, Specialized had resisted the new wheel trend. However, with the presentation of the first 27.5-inch tyre models in February, it was already clear that it would only be a matter of time before the first Specialized mountain bikes would be available.

29 inch still main size

Specialized PR man Sebastian Maag emphasises that 29 inches will continue to play first fiddle at Specialized. Maag did not comment on whether the 26-inch wheel size will disappear completely from the Prokukt portfolio from model year 2015. So we can - and must - continue to speculate.

Sebastian Brust was born in 1979 and was originally socialised on his grandmother's folding bike, but has mainly been riding studded tyres since his fifth birthday. Loves all kinds of bikes - and merging with nature. Believes that disc brakes are much safer today than they were 15 years ago and thinks he has helped with his brake and pad tests. However, the trained vehicle technology engineer very much regrets that the bicycle industry is orientating itself on what he considers to be the wrong ideals of the car industry. At BIKE, he corrects, produces and organises digital content on the website.
