The gravel wheelset, which weighs 1330 grams and is designed for tyre widths of 35 to 50 millimetres, is available for less than 900 euros. The Newmen Advanced A.50 road wheelset, which was released at the same time, costs just as much - or less - and weighs 1470 grams.
Lightweight wheels are a relief on tours with a lot of elevation gain - and also on fast gravel tours. This is exactly what the Newmen Advanced G.34 wheels offer with their 1330 grams. But weight alone is not enough, the rougher the terrain and the longer the tour, the more comfort also plays a role. Newmen has therefore given the new gravel wheels wide rims that allow low air pressures, which also ensures low rolling resistance and provides an extra portion of grip. Nothing stands in the way of fast gravel races and tours. However, the wheels are also suitable for adventurous tours and bikepacking trips.
The carbon rims have an angled hookless design, which has been tried and tested by Newmen in the MTB sector and promises maximum impact resistance. With a rim width of 25 millimetres, the rims are suitable for tyres between 35 and 50 millimetres.
If you want to reduce the risk of valve defects caused by stone chips, sticks and more - and save 1.5 km/h on top of that - you can equip your new wheelset with the internal Streem Aero Valves, which are included in the scope of delivery. Incidentally, this also gives the bike a clean look.
A rim alone doesn't make a wheel, does it? At the centre is the Newmen Fade R hybrid hub, which combines straight-pull and J-bend spoking. According to Newmen, this leads to a reduction in the number of spokes, aerodynamic optimisation and also offers sufficient lateral stiffness for precise handling. The hub has been keeping the Newmen MTB wheels running for years.
Comparable to the Newmen Advanced G.34, for example, is the Cadex AR 35-wheelset, which weighs 1333 grams with a Shimano freehub. However, you have to dig deeper into your pocket for this.
The Newmen Advanced G.34 wheelset is equipped with an aerodynamically optimised, robust rim with a matt surface. The carbon rim is suitable for tyres between 35 and 50 millimetres and is of course tubeless-compatible. Also not unimportant for some: the wheels are suitable for use on an e-bike (60 Nm).
The Newmen Advanced A.50 is a high-end racing wheelset with excellent aerodynamic properties thanks to its 50 millimetre high and 32.5 millimetre wide rims. Thanks to its low weight, it is also perfect for climbing. And the best thing about it: it is available at an extremely fair price of just under 900 euros.
The aerodynamically optimised, matt carbon rim with hooks is tubeless-compatible and suitable for tyre widths from 25 to 32 millimetres. The best aerodynamic values are achieved with tyres between 28 and 30 millimetres. If you want to save energy, you can install the Streem Aero Valves included in the scope of delivery instead of using conventional valves. The manufacturer also promises that the 21-hole Fade R hybrid hubs are durable, light and quiet. Incidentally, the wheels are also suitable for use on e-bikes (60 Nm).
