DT Swiss has been building high-quality MTB wheels under the abbreviation Spline One since 2013. So far always with aluminium rims. However, this will change for 2021, as the new 1501 Spline One series relies on carbon rims. Why? Because carbon wheels are lighter, stiffer and more durable - as our recent big BIKE wheel test in BIKE 7/20 has shown. With lighter rims, thinner spokes and the DT 240 hubs with EXP toothed disc freehub DT Swiss saves a lot of weight and the new 1501 Spline One wheels should be up to 180 grams lighter than the current aluminium generation. As before, there will be three models: the XRC version for cross-country, the XMC for all-mountain use and the EXC wheels for enduro bikes. Here is an overview of the three models:
DT Swiss is also introducing a standardised DOT code for its products from model year 2021. A small sticker will provide owners and mechanics with detailed information about the DT part. The code can be used to quickly and easily find operating instructions, service videos or suitable spare parts. DT Swiss is also introducing new guarantee and warranty conditions for its products. The whole thing is called "Fair Share" and offers the owner of carbon wheels - regardless of the two-year warranty - a 10-year crash replacement on the CFRP rim for 249 euros.
