Titanium-carbon thru axles "made in Germany": Markus Spenninger from Freiburg worked for years in development for Specialized and Cannondale, but now he is doing his own thing. The elegant thru axles made from a titanium-carbon mix are called "Ticara" and are produced entirely in Germany. Spenninger puts his hand in the fire for the high quality: high-strength, rolled titanium threads and a titanium head with a drilled hexagon socket.
The carbon centre section is also meticulously bonded to the head and thread. The production of the individual parts is complex and time-consuming; the plasma coating of the all-black versions alone takes a full working day. Everything is manufactured by specialised companies in Germany. But the attention to detail pays off. A Boost axle for the front weighs just 19.9 grams, a 12x148 mm axle around 26 grams.
The Aserra axles will be available for a wide range of axle standards - currently with a diameter of 12 mm in lengths of 100, 110, 135, 142, 148 and 150 mm. All axles cost 99.50 euros and can be ordered directly via the online shop at www.aserra.de - with a lifetime guarantee for the first owner. In addition, a donation from the proceeds of each axle goes to the DIMB.
