DT Swiss 240: How do you improve a classic hub?
Following the update of the 180 hub, DT Swiss is also giving the 240 a complete overhaul. The latest DT Swiss generation of the classic hub should be more stable, stiffer and lighter.

Extended shelf life of the bearing

As with the 180 hub with EXP freehub the distance between the bearings in the hub shell of the DT Swiss 240 EXP has been increased. This reduces the bending load on the axle, which ultimately means less stress for the bearings. The bearing on the drive side has been integrated into the bolted toothed disc.

The new DT Swiss 240: Fewer parts

Instead of two coil springs, DT uses just one spring for the 240. This reduces the components and therefore the weight and, according to DT Swiss, should ensure even faster and more reliable engagement of the toothed discs. The toothed discs have 36 teeth, which means an engagement angle of 10 degrees. For trial riders, the conversion kit with 54 teeth and 6.7 degrees is exciting.

Easier to dismantle

Thanks to a notch at the end of the end cap, the new DT Swiss 240 hubs should now be even easier to dismantle without tools if a service is required.

Availabilities

The new 240 EXP hubs will be available for classic J-bend and straight-pull spokes. 149.90 euros will be charged for the front wheel and 293.90 euros for the rear wheel. In the lightest configuration, the front hub should weigh 104 grams and the rear hub 199 grams. There is still a 6-hole version and a centrelock version for brake disc mounting. DT Swiss also offers a rear hub of the 240 with Superboost installation dimension (157 mm). Of course, the new 240 EXP hub available with all conceivable freewheels.
