Whether component giant Sram has reinvented the wheel remains to be seen. What is certain, however, is that with the lightweight carbon wheelset Rise 60 and its aluminium counterpart Rise 40, Sram is breaking new ground in terms of wheels and expanding its product range with yet another delicacy.

Just like Shimano, Sram is now also entering the wheel business and consistently expanding its product range. It starts with the High-end carbon wheel Rise 60 for cross-country use as well as the favourable All-rounder Rise 40 balance bike with a conventional aluminium rim, which should be suitable for everything from cross-country to all-mountain.

Both wheels will be available in a 26- and 29-inch version. Another common feature is the Rim width of 19 millimetreswhich 24 blade spokes on the front and rear wheel and the option Quick release or a 15 millimetres Thru axle on the front wheel or 142x12 millimetre axle on the rear wheel.

In order to reconcile essential requirements such as low weight, high rigidity and high efficiency, the Sram engineers went full throttle and optimised the individual components of the wheels. In addition to the weight of 1330 grammes for the Rise 60 and 1710 grammes For the Rise 40, the prices were 1800 resp. 465 Euro extremely attractively priced.
