There are no scratches on the black anodised finish of the 28 millimetre wide rims - which, incidentally, were created in collaboration with Newmen. With the exception of just over a millimetre of lateral run-out on the rear wheel, the Loamers, which are spoked in Germany, run as smoothly as on the first day. And that's despite the fact that they've been put through their paces on a trail hardtail, from home rounds to alpine trails and bike park use. Only the bearings of the Straightpull hubs run as rough as a pepper mill and could do with a service.
The Loamer wheelset is now available in the second version (MK2), with three pawls instead of a toothed disc freehub and the option of fitting Shimano's Micro-Spline freehub. The scope of delivery includes tubeless valves and tape as well as two spare spokes. Fortunately, the price of the 1778 gram aluminium wheels is still a reasonable 399 euros. This makes the sturdy round wheels an absolute recommendation for retrofitting.
