The ShockStop stem from Redshift is reminiscent of the good old days and the first attempts to bring more comfort to the still unsprung MTB. It still works.

Like the Girvin Flexstem of the time, the Redshift ShockStop stem also has a defined pivot point and replaceable elastomers for internal suspension. The stem can be adjusted to the rider's weight and the leverage ratio (flat or drop bar) via the hardness of the elastomers. Despite minimal suspension travel, comfort on gravel bikes or mountain bikes with rigid forks increases significantly. Somewhat annoying: the hard bump on rebound when the front wheel is lifted.

"The Redshift stem seemingly brings comfort to the unsprung bike and is easy on the wrists. Although the part cannot compete with suspension forks, it also weighs significantly less."
