Lightweight: Newmen MTB handlebars and stem on test
Newmen, the new brand from Michi Grätz (ex-Liteville-Syntace), offers high-end components for mountain bikes and road bikes. In the ride report: Newmen Advanced SL carbon handlebars and Evolution SL stem.

Handlebars, stems, hubs, rims, seat posts - made of carbon or aluminium: Michi Grätz (ex-Liteville-Syntace) produces high-quality parts for mountain bikes and road bikes under his still young brand Newmen. We have already been able to ride the combination of Advanced SL carbon handlebars and Evolution SL stem. The 70 millimetre stem weighs just 84 grams and is said to be one of the lightest 3D forged stems in the world - and yet it has been tested to the toughest test standard.

To achieve this sensational weight, Newmen has dispensed with a removable front section. Despite the two-bolt clamp, the 750 millimetre wide riser bar can also be threaded in with a little skill. The lightweight handlebar/stem combination from Newmen is very stiff and precise.

Handlebar/stem weight 227/84 grammes
Price handlebar/stem 189/99 Euro

Florentin Vesenbeckh has been on a mountain bike since he was ten years old. Even on his very first tour, he focussed on single trails - and even after more than 30 years in the saddle of an MTB, these are still the quintessence of biking for him. He spent his youth competing in various bike disciplines and later his cycling career was characterised by years as a riding technique coach. Professionally, the experienced test editor now focusses on e-mountainbikes. In recent years, the qualified sports scientist and trained journalist has tested over 300 bikes and more than 40 different motor systems in the laboratory and in practice.
