Grippy: 6 MTB grips in a quick check
Grips - they are the most underestimated part of the bike! Yet they determine how the bike feels in your hand. Here are six grips that we like.

ERGON GE1

Price: 35 €
Weight (pair): 102 g
Diameter (mm): 30
Web: ergonbike.com

The GE1 Slim with its thin diameter is one of our top favourites, both visually and functionally. With its rounded screw clamp and ergonomic grip body, it looks like a design object. It has a direct and non-slip grip, even in wet conditions. The ribbing provides extra grip. Super!

ESI Limited

Price: 18 €
Weight (pair): 56 g
Diameter (mm):28
Web: esigrips.com

The ESI uses silicone foam. The super-light foam rubber grip is best pulled onto the handlebars with compressed air. It also holds without a lock-on screw, dampens well and feels comfortable and direct when dry. Wet, however, it becomes slippery without gloves. Available in three diameters.

SQLAB 70X

Price: 30 €
Weight (pair): 126 g
Diameter (mm): 31
Web: sq-lab.com

The ergonomics experts from Bavaria have given their award-winning screw grip a wider contact surface for better pressure distribution and more effective traction. This works very well in practice. The pistol grip is comfortable to hold and provides a lot of grip. Available in thin and thicker versions.

ODI Aaron Gwin 2

Price: 35 €
Weight (pair): 125 g
Diameter (mm): 30

How do you like this article?

We already liked the first grip of super racer Aaron Gwin (AG-1) because it was thin, firm and very direct. The AG-2 is thicker and has softer rubber for better damping. Nevertheless, it feels firm and direct. Rubber crossbars increase finger grip. Available in six colours.

DMR DeathGrip

Weight (pair): 100 g
Diameter (mm):29
Web: cosmicsports.com

British World Cup racer and daredevil Brendon Fairclough designed the Deathgrip according to his needs. Three different grip patterns are used. Soft slats on the inside, pistol grip on the outside. Available thin (29.8 mm) and thick (31.3 mm) and in countless colours.

ERGON GD1 Slim

Price: 30 €
Weight (pair): 114 g
Diameter (mm): 30
Web: ergonbike.com

Ergon has developed the GD1 for all gravity bikers. It is conically shaped: thicker on the outside (30.5 mm) for more damping, thin on the inside (29 mm) for a better grip. The internal clamp fixes quickly and securely. The ribbing provides grip and is comfortable to hold. Available in two diameters.
