Noise protection for your bike
The XTR Shadow Plus rear derailleur is characterised by a switch on the rear derailleur cage that can be used to activate a harder spring tension and a friction stabiliser. This counteracts the violent up and down movements of the chain on rough terrain. The strong noise generated when the chain hits the chainstay is thus reduced. It should also prevent the chain from jumping off the chainring.
In the "ON" position, the Shadow Plus rear derailleur therefore results in reduced chain movement and a quieter riding experience. Moving the shifter to the "OFF" position relaxes the rear derailleur spring, making it easier to mount and dismount the rear wheel.
The new rear derailleur will be available on the market from June 2011. Price and weight have not yet been announced by Shimano.
