Considering that a crank turns 10,800 times on a three-hour ride, this adds up to quite a lot over the course of a year. At 822 grams including GXP bearings, the Noir doesn't break any weight records for a carbon crank, but it is also very robust in tough all-mountain use.

The crank arms remained completely unimpressed, apart from a number of nicks caused by contact with stones. The shifting performance and durability of the chainrings is good, but below Shimano XTR level. They were replaced after about eight months with a decent number of kilometres (also in winter). A short time later, there was play in the right-hand bearing. The possible reason: With a 73 bottom bracket shell plus E-type plate, the seal of the right-hand bearing no longer sits on the ground surface of the crankshaft and water can penetrate more easily, leading to bearing damage.
