Shimano distributed just seven XTR Dual Control prototypes to top racers around the world. BIKE has already been able to test the Japanese company's flagship in practice - against SRAM's top X.0 groupset.
Rarely has the bike industry been as divided as the debate surrounding Shimano's "Dual Control" shifters. On the one side are the supporters, who are mainly to be found in the cross-country camp. On the other side are the opponents, who criticise the unfamiliar shifting logic and in particular the performance of the shifters on enduro and freeride bikes. Now Shimano's flagship model is coming onto the market completely revised. Time for a first comparison test. SRAM's top "X.O" groupset is the benchmark. Can the new "XTR" overcome this high hurdle?
