This increases the shifting speed and is perceived as easier by many riders. In addition, with Sram you can only shift down one gear per click. With Shimano XT and XTR, you can shift down two gears at once. The XT gear lever is therefore particularly recommended for 10-speed. To compensate for this shortcoming, Sram offers two shifting systems from the X0 onwards: Trigger and the Gripshift twist shifter. The differences in shifting feel - Shimano slightly softer and Sram crisper - are more a matter of taste than a judgement of quality, both work precisely. Due to the different gear ratios (Sram with 1:1 and Shimano with 1:2), cross-brand mixes are not possible for the rear derailleur and right-hand shifter. Here you have to decide: either Sram shifter with Sram rear derailleur and Shimano lever with Shimano rear derailleur. However, mixed combinations are possible within the brand.
Conclusion1:1 draw in the all-important shifting centre. When it comes to trigger shifters, Shimano wins by a narrow margin due to the option of downshifting with the index finger. However, Sram offers the fastest alternative with its twist shifters
the fastest alternative.
