After Shimano has already completely revised the higher-quality SLX and XT groupsets, the entry-level Deore groupset is now getting an update. Here too, the "Rider Tuned" principle has been consistently pursued. This means that the Deore can also be optimally customised to the respective bike type and riding style thanks to various gear ratio variants.
Rear derailleur with Shadow-Plus
In addition to the classic Shadow rear derailleur, for the first time a Shadow Plus variant available. The switchable friction damper keeps the chain tight and is designed to prevent chain jerks and annoying chain slaps, thus ensuring a quieter drive. A Direct mount versionwhich connects the rear derailleur more securely to the frame, is also included in the programme.
New double cranks
Shimanos "Rider Tuned" principle is also making its way into the Deore. This means that the affordable groupset is no longer only available as a triple version (42/32/24 teeth) but also in three versions with a double crank (40/28, 38/26, 38/24 teeth). For the three groupsets XT, SLX and Deore, Shimano also offers a triple crank with a gradation of 40/30/22 teeth specially designed for use on 29er and 27.5-inch bikes. The Deore crank differs from the higher-quality groupsets by virtue of its two-piece crank arm.
Deore brakes now with Ice-Tec
In the fight against overheating, Shimano now also relies on the well-known Ice-Tec technology. The sandwich brake disc consists of an aluminium core and a steel outer surface and is designed to dissipate heat more quickly. The revised brake caliper is equipped with standard pads ex works, but also works with Ice-Tec pads. Their cooling fins should ensure even better heat dissipation. The Deore also has an ergonomic two-finger lever with a servo-wave mechanism for fine adjustment of the braking power.
Deore hubs with thru-axle option
In addition to the classic quick-release hubs, Shimano now also offers a 15 mm E-Thru thru-axle version for the front and a 12 mm E-Thru thru-axle version for the rear wheel. The new wheels are designed to cover all conceivable riding styles.
