With the Descendant Truvativ (Sram) presents a new range of add-on parts designed to offer performance, durability and style at the lowest possible price. The Descendant family includes three cranksets for different applications. However, all of them are only available as single cranks, as Sram has completely abandoned the front derailleur. There are also four handlebars, a seatpost and a stem. The product range is aimed at all-mountain and enduro bikers as well as downhillers.
In addition to the downhill crank for really tough use, which is available in 165 and 170 mm lengths for 166 to 214 euros and should weigh 725 g, Truvativ is presenting two other cranks for all-mountain and enduro use. The aluminium version with a 32-tooth blade and 175 mm crank arm length weighs 674 g and costs between 175 and 205 euros. The carbon version is available from 340 euros and is said to weigh 587 grams. This would make it one of the cheapest carbon cranks on the market for this area of use.
The handlebars are all available in carbon and aluminium, with the exception of the 800 mm downhill version, which costs 77 euros and is only available in aluminium. The model without rise costs 71 euros (aluminium) and 163 euros in carbon and is 750 mm (carbon) or 760 mm wide in aluminium. For the same price, you can also purchase two otherwise identical models with 20 mm rise. Unfortunately, the press release is silent on the weight.
The seatpost is available in 350 and 400 mm lengths and with 30.9 and 31.6 mm diameters. It will cost between 235 and 275 euros and will only be available as an aluminium model. The stem is also only available in aluminium, costs 71 euros and is 40, 50 or 60 mm long. The manufacturer specifies a weight of between 149 and 168 g.
The Truvativ Descendant series is already available in stores.
