Shimano Deore goes Dyna Sys
When it was launched in 2010, Dyna Sys technology was still reserved for the top XTR, Deore XT and SLX groupsets. Now the 3x10-speed drivetrain system is also available for the mid-range. The crank will be available in 42/32/24 tooth gradations. The cassette is available in 11-34 and 11-36 tooth versions, plus the directional 10-speed HG-X chain. Another new feature is the Deore Servo Wave disc brake, which is characterised above all by its powerful braking force, which is said to be 114 percent higher than the old XTR. Thanks to the modified lever deflection, the pads should move faster to the disc, but only reach their full power towards the end of the lever travel. The one-way bleeding system also ensures easy maintenance.
Ice-Tec for the SLX
The SLX All Mountain groupset will also be launched with Servo-Wave technology in the future. Here too, a new linkage ensures improved modulation. The SLX will also be upgraded with Ice-Tec brake discs and pads, which were previously only available for the XTR. The sandwich design of the discs and cooling fins on the pads should ensure better heat dissipation and greater stability. The discs with centre-lock mount are available in 160, 180 and 203 millimetre dimensions. The new SLX brakes are characterised by tool-free adjustment and easy maintenance.
Inexpensive trail pedal and mid-range wheel
With the WH-MT55, Shimano presents a new wheelset for disc brake use. In addition to a quick-release version, the front wheel is also available with a 15 mm E-Thru thru axle. The weight is 1920 grams per set. The rims are available in either white or black.
Shimano is also launching a new pedal on the market that is visually modelled on the XTR trail pedal. The integrated cage is available in black or white and weighs 456 grams per pair.
