Cranks, light and affordable
The crank leads a shadowy existence - yet it is a centrepiece of the bike. We show beautiful, fast, colourful, light and affordable cranks.

On a double page you will find a quick overview below as a PDF for download with the following models:

Aerozine - Sting X-12-FX-A3

You are spoilt for choice with the Aerozines X-12, which is available in six colours. Advantage: The crank length can be individually varied between 170 and 175 millimetres using the Stronglight ALS eccentric integrated into the pedal eyelet.

Weight: 754 grams, price: 329 euros including ceramic bottom bracket.

FSA - Comet Megaexo

FSA's Megaexo stands out above all due to its beautifully curved crank arm made of cold-forged aluminium and its affordable price of 138 euros. A CrMo steel axle rotates inside. The chainrings are stamped and then finished using a CNC machine.

Price: 138 euros. Weight: 974 grams.

KCNC - XC1 K-Type

Delicious! The weight alone is enough to make tuning enthusiasts' mouths water, as the Taiwanese crank weighs just 711 grams including the K-Type bottom bracket and three chainrings. The low weight is achieved thanks to the large Scandium axle and the CNC-machined aluminium crank arms.

The price of 287 euros for the complete set is also fair.

Race Face - Atlas

Yay! After a seemingly eternal dry spell of missing 90s anodised cranks from Kooka and co., the 931 gram Atlas set finally brings colour back to the bike. Race Face's newly designed, CNC-machined chainrings promise that no compromises need to be made in terms of shifting performance.

Race Face - Next SL Carbon

Of course, a carbon crank should not be missing in this environment. We opted for Race Face's brand new Next SL Carbon. The martial appearance and a weight of 712 grams per set speak for themselves. However, every gram of the crank costs over a euro. This piece of jewellery costs 749 euros.

Rotor - Agilis 3D XC 2 x 9

Finally there are oval chainrings again. A few years after Biopace, Rotor wants to get four per cent more performance out of the rider with the Agilis crank and the Q-ring chainrings.

The set consisting of a double crank, 40/27 chainrings and Sabb hub weighs 772 grams and costs around 560 euros.

Shimano - SLX

As an all-mountain crank, Shimano's SLX makes a name for itself above all in terms of shifting performance. The chain has already climbed precisely over the teeth on countless test bikes in the editorial team. With a total weight of 899 grams, the robust SLX is not the lightest, but it is a favourable purchase price.

Price: 109 Euro

SR Suntour - CW9 XCR FX

Inexpensive bike tuning doesn't have to look hideous. With the Suntour CW crank, even the worst bike becomes an eye-catcher. The highlight: thanks to the pressed axle, the crank should have enormous stiffness reserves.

The price is also fantastic: the crank set costs 59.95 euros.

Weight 1168 grams.

The Hive - Fifteen G

Something new every now and then. A lot has happened since the square mount on cranks. ISIS, Hollowtech, BB30 - and now the polygonal dropouts on the 830 gram Fifteen G with 30 millimetre aluminium axle.

Teeth: 22/32/44, Price: 259 Euro

Truvativ - SRAM XX

No other race groupset has caused as much of a stir as SRAM's new XX double groupset. So it's only fair to take a closer look at the 697 gram (BB30 version) lightweight carbon arms and the X-Glide chainrings optimised for lightning-fast chain climbs. Conclusion: beautiful and fast.

Price: 465 Euro

Truvativ - Stylo OTC

Truvativ is one of the largest crank manufacturers. The mid-range model from the Americans has a hollow forged crank arm and therefore enters the ring in the all-mountain battle with a fighting weight of 858 grams, including the GXP Team bottom bracket.

Price of the black beauty: 225 euros.
