Which headset fits where?

All newer mountain bikes are fitted with 1 1/8" headsets. They have the right balance of stability and weight. 1.5" headsets are only used for hard freeride or downhill use. Occasionally, older frames are still fitted with a 1 1/4" head tube. These can also be converted to 1 1/8" with a reducing sleeve.

Important: With the exception of RST, there are only suspension forks in 1 1/8" and 1.5". RST also offers 1" steerer tubes for its forks. If you want a fork from another manufacturer in 1", you have to order a customised version. - If you want to be sure which headset fits your frame, simply measure your head tube or the old headset and read the value in the table below.
