Suspension systems in the Megalog test
Soft, active suspension, but no suspension bob - that's the promise of smart bikes with "intelligent" damping systems. We used data recording technology to measure what these bikes are really capable of.

"It's like magic". Anyone who knows BIKE test engineer Robert Kühnen will be able to interpret this statement correctly after his first test ride on the new Elan bike. Kühnen, known as a rather cool-headed calculator, normally leaves emotions out of the equation in tests of this kind.

The dream of all bike designers seems to have come true with the new full-suspension generation: comfortable, always ready-to-use suspension that still doesn't bob uphill. 2004 is the year of the - we call them: smart bikes.

We scrutinised ten of these smart bikes in an extensive test marathon.

The bikes in this test:
Elan Slyer XT, Fusion Raid, Giant VT 2, Rocky Mountain ETSX-70, Rotwild RFC 02, Santa Cruz Blur, Scott Genius RC 10, Specialised Epic S-Works and Enduro S-Works, Votec NC 1 Carbon
