Suspension forks: CC and Allround
The new suspension forks are packed with high-tech: "PAR" and "SPV", "TST" and "ETA". This begs the question: Do I need all this? We analysed 18 models in the Cross Country and Allround categories.

The thick lead door slams shut, a warning light flashes. It clicks quietly. Then the X-ray machine slowly slides back into its starting position. Minutes later, we are holding the image in our hands. Not that we x-rayed the entire fork test field. No, we just wanted to visualise what the inner workings of today's forks look like. And for this purpose we had a Marzocchi "All Mountain I" from the enduro fork test (BIKE 3/05) x-rayed. The first thing you notice: The tubes of the fork are crammed with adjustment options. Several pressure chambers and valves fill the cavities. Of course, it's no different for our 18 cross-country and all-round forks in this test field. They also have "SPV", "PAR" and "TST". The abundance of these different systems quickly raises the question: Do you actually need these options in practice?
