One year ago, when Quarq Shockwiz help seemed to be within reach: The extensive adjustment options of modern suspension components not only overwhelm amateur mountain bikers, even ambitious riders often fail to utilise the full potential of their MTB suspension. The mini sensor is simply strapped to the suspension fork or damper and connected to the air chamber with a cable. We have explained exactly how the system works here.
We have already subjected the analysis tool to a detailed test. Read the full test report here. The conclusion of BIKE author Christian Artmann was:
Shockwiz is a real aid for optimising the setup for defined routes and for finding a solid basic setup for almost any suspension. A great innovation, albeit at a steep price.
Our criticism has also somewhat dampened the euphoria of other bikers. That's why, exactly one year after its market launch, Quarq has announced a price reduction: The Direct Mount Shockwiz now costs 399 euros, the standard version comes in at 349 euros.
The Americans are also providing a software update for the free app before: Rider profiles can now be saved and when riding a familiar track again (for example at a race or in the bike park), you can easily access the old setup. There's also a new custom mode to help you find the optimum setup for every riding style. As before, Shockwiz provides recommendations for air pressure, progression and rebound and compression damping.
