SR Suntour Rux in the double crown fork comparison 2014
Fork giant Suntour has dozens of models in its range - a downhill fork was missing until recently. The "Rux" fills the gap for 2014.
The "Rux" did not offer any adjustment suggestions, but that was not necessary. The fork was slightly overdamped in all areas. At 20 % sag with 72 PSI, we ran all adjusters fully open. 2 spacers in the air chamber for crisp end progression.Photo: Daniel Simon The "Rux" did not offer any adjustment suggestions, but that was not necessary. It's the only fork to use a quick-release thru-axle, which doesn't detract from its enormous stiffness: a superior first place here. When stationary, the fork feels tough, despite the compression and rebound damping being fully open. Was it the weather with almost 10 degrees? We were sceptical going into the descent and were surprised: The "Rux" handles really well! Precise and with good grip, it absorbs the bumps even at high speeds. At first it was too progressive for us. With only 2 spacers in the air chamber at the end, everything was fine.
Then it utilises the full travel and stays high in its travel when braking. A real insider tip. Nevertheless, Suntour should revise the damping set-up or use thinner oil. It is only suitable for heavy riders over 75kg.
