The big bikes are to blame for everything. Anyone who visited the Eurobike trade fair and was surrounded by a sea of new products quickly came to a clear realisation: the really big innovations and red-hot innovations are mainly in the 29-inch segment. At least in the cross-country to all-mountain segment. Whether hardtail or fully, whether tyres, wheels or suspension forks, the industry is busy cultivating the new business segment with leisure. The 29er movement has really picked up speed. Definitely a welcome addition, in our opinion, but not always easy, even as a magazine. There are more and more products under the 29er label, but in our case too few months to be able to fully cover or test the extended spectrum.
In order to do justice to the larger number of forks, we have split the fork test into two parts. In this section, you will find 26 and 29-inch forks with less travel for cross country, marathon and all-mountain sports. The long-travel forks with 150 and 160 to 170 millimetres of travel for All Mountain Plus and Enduro will follow shortly. As some brand-new fork models were simply not yet available, even after persistent enquiries to the importer, we unfortunately had to do without a few renowned brands. This is why the Manitou Marvel and Tower, the Marzocchi Corsa Superleggera 29, the Formula 33 and the DT Swiss XRC 100 are not at the start.
