If you hear rattling noises coming from undefined directions, have loosened and retightened a thousand bolts and still can't find a solution, then you should take a look inside your fork. Just like Stefan Weimer. He found the cause of the rattling noises inside his fork and was able to fix it with simple means and a little skill.
Attention! The action taken by Stefan invalidates the guarantee and any warranty on the forks. If you want to be on the safe side, you should take your fork to your nearest Rock-Shox service centre.
"I had the same problem with my Rock Shox SID suspension fork. When I dismantled it, I found the cause: There is a spring washer between the damper tube and the lower screw plug of the right stanchion tube. This was broken in my case. I replaced this spring washer with suitable washers with a total thickness of 0.8 millimetres. Now the front is finally quiet."
