They actually pimp up suspension forks. But the suspension specialists at Push Industries also have innovative solutions in their programme in the shock absorber segment. With the SV8, the manufacturer from the USA is expanding its portfolio with a lightweight and compact steel spring damper with extensive adjustment options and two compression stage circuits.

The concept behind the SV8 Steel spring damper

According to Push Industries, the aim was to develop a lightweight, high-quality steel spring damper that would impress with particularly high performance. The SV8 should also be compatible with a wide range of mountain bikes and e-mountain bikes on the market. Like the manufacturer's other products, the SV8 is also manufactured at the production site in Colorado.

The SV8 is based on damping technology with a valve and offers 25 clicks each on the high and low-speed compression damping and 18 clicks on the low-speed rebound damping. Friends of complex setup work will feel particularly at home here. All settings can be made without tools using external dials.

The compact design is also intended to ensure a low weight and maximise compatibility with modern mountain bike and e-mountain bike frames. The SV8 steel spring damper has standard damper eyes that are compatible with both DU bushings and 5-piece mounting hardware. In addition to the Push Hypercoil springs, other aftermarket springs with an inner diameter of 35mm can also be used on the shock's spring plate.

The high-strength steel shaft of the SV8 is designed to enable problem-free use on mountain bikes with yoke or on EMTBS.

Customised damping

A new piston design and adapted compression damping characteristics are intended to reduce bobbing caused by the rider's weight without negatively affecting performance. The fine adjustment of the compression damping can be easily adapted to personal preferences without any tools using external dials on the steel spring damper.

The HBO (Hydraulic Bottom Out) piston of the compression damping system, which we also use, for example of Rockshox's new Vivid damperthe steel spring damper is to be braked in the last 15 per cent of the stroke in order to prevent a hard end stop and thus increase safety on the trail, the riding feel and riding enjoyment.

One steel spring damper, three different strokes. With the help of the so-called "travel chip system", the stroke of the shock absorber can be quickly and easily adjusted in 2.5 mm increments.
