After Fox introduced the FIT4 cartridge last year, which damps the top models, there is now also an upgrade for the more affordable Fox forks. The new cartridge is called GRIP and is used in the Performance and Rhythm forks. However, only the Factory (FIT4) and Performance versions can be purchased on the aftermarket, while the Performance Elite (FIT4) and Rhythm forks are only available to original equipment manufacturers.
The GRIP damping system - inspired by motorsport - utilises the damping technology of the FIT cartridge with sealed cartridge in combination with an independent float piston with air spring. The GRIP system allows excess oil to escape through special openings on the top of the shock. In this way, Fox aims to ensure even damping and improve durability at the same time.
Fox uses the GRIP cartridge in both the Performance and Rhythm series. It is intended to raise damping to a new level in this price class. The compression damping can therefore be adjusted on both forks. Riders of Fox Rhythm forks can choose between two levels. The more expensive Performance fork, on the other hand, guarantees a finer adjustment range, because in addition to three fixed modes (open, medium, firm), you can also make smaller intermediate settings.
The Performance versions are already available, the Rhythm forks are only intended for original equipment manufacturers as described.
The performance forks from Fox are for price-conscious customers at the dealer. The chassis of the fork and the air suspension system are identical to the higher-priced "Factory" and "Performance Elite" lines. The stanchions of the Performance models are black this model year. Prices start at 699 euros for the 32 series and go up to 959 euros for a 34 Fox Performance. A specific 34 model for S-Pedelecs is also available.
